Peoples Party Defends Dr. Supat: Threatens Legal Action if Health Ministry Secretary-General Illegally Signs Dismissal

The People's Party confirms that Dr. Supat remains the candidate for the Songkhla 2nd district parliamentary seat, calling for a clearer investigation. It warns that if the Ministry of Public Health's Secretary-General signs the dismissal unlawfully, the party will pursue all legal channels.

28 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chaitawat Tulathana As the People's Party campaign assistant, he was assigned by the party secretary-general to read the People's Party statement. This follows the Ministry of Public Health's press conference this morning regarding the issuance of a severe disciplinary punishment order against Dr. Supat Hasuwannakit, candidate for the House of Representatives (MP) for Songkhla's 2nd district under the People's Party.

The People's Party reiterates that Dr. Supat remains legally the candidate for MP representing Songkhla's 2nd district under the party, as the Ministry of Public Health's Secretary-General has not yet signed the dismissal order following the disciplinary committee's resolution. Even if the Secretary-General signs later, Dr. Supat will still be a candidate until the Supreme Court issues an order removing his candidacy status.

This morning, the Ministry of Public Health announced that the disciplinary committee's resolution to dismiss Dr. Supat from government service was made through a proper process. The People's Party believes the ministry's statement omitted significant facts, namely that the party learned that during the disciplinary committee meeting on 22 January, the screening working group proposed to the committee that the investigation facts were not yet clear enough to consider a serious disciplinary offense against Dr. Supat. Therefore, they recommended conducting further investigations as follows:

1. The procurement of ATK kits, which involved segmented purchases by Dr. Supat, and how the government suffered serious damage, as well as how the selling company benefited from the government.

2. The investigation did not find evidence of comparisons with procurement data from other agencies or whether the selling company supplied other agencies. Additional information was requested to support further consideration. However, the majority of the disciplinary committee, led by the Minister of Public Health, declined to consider these additional investigations, despite their importance in deciding severe disciplinary action against Dr. Supat.

. Therefore, if the Ministry of Public Health's Secretary-General unlawfully signs Dr. Supat's dismissal, the party will pursue all legal measures to protect the rights of Songkhla's 2nd district residents to elect their preferred representative, uphold good governance in the civil service, and will prosecute officials who abuse their power to the fullest extent. .
