Saeng Declares No Need for Encouragement, Sees Critics and Attention-Seekers as Indirect Promoters of the Election Commissions Work

Saeng remains unfazed and does not seek encouragement following criticism of the Election Commission’s handling of elections and referendums. He is open to listening if it benefits the public, viewing critics and attention-seekers as inadvertently helping to publicize the Commission's work, describing it as mutual back-scratching.

At 17:25 on 28 January 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, posted a message viahis personal Facebook account. He addressed current criticisms of the Election Commission’s election management, saying he is neither shaken nor seeking encouragement but simply wants to explain how they work and what has been done. He noted that amid constant criticism, censure, and insults, as well as attention-seekers trying to get involved, he feels neither shaken nor worried, but rather enjoys his work more than ever before.

Saeng further explained that he felt the need to share this because more well-wishers have been sending support, making him feel like he is ill. He clarified that he does not need encouragement. He said that needing encouragement is like being cornered, pitiful, unable to cope, burdened by goals, expectations, and pressure. He told well-wishers that he does not feel that way at all and is very upbeat.

“As for those who insult, criticize, censure, and attention-seekers, they come so frequently it is almost pitiful. Consider it as indirect publicity for our work, a form of mutual back-scratching. We are open to all opinions because an agency like ours needs cooperation from all sectors and people, regardless of how they think or feel about us. If it benefits the public, we are always willing to listen,” he said.

Saeng concluded by saying that today he had the opportunity to welcome the Senate’s Political Development Committee. Intelligence suggested they would be assertive and he was prepared, but after discussions he told the committee he felt honored by their visit and wanted to share two feelings: first, a sense of friendship; second, that he benefited greatly. This was different from his feelings before the meeting, and he expressed willingness to collaborate with the committee for the nation’s benefit.
