The Democrat Party and Rakchat Party met for campaigning at the ancient city market. Abhisit teased Chaiwut to perform a dance, while Ajarn Jes urged the Election Commission to investigate the withdrawal of hundreds of millions in cash from banks.
On 29 January 2026, the campaigning atmosphere in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province was especially lively as two major parties unexpectedly crossed paths at Chao Phrom Market. The Rakchat Party team, led by Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn and Jes Thonawanik, two prime ministerial candidates, were campaigning for votes when they encountered the Democrat Party team, led by Abhisit Vejjajiva and Korn Chatikavanij. The leaders of both sides greeted and shook hands amicably. Abhisit joked with Chaiwut to “dance for the crowd,” eliciting cheers from supporters before they laughed and went their separate ways to continue campaigning in a joyful atmosphere.
After campaigning, Jes gave an interview regarding financial irregularities during the election period, noting abnormal cash outflows. He thanked the Governor of the Bank of Thailand for disclosing data on two large cash withdrawals amounting to 100 million baht and 250 million baht. Jes viewed these as highly suspicious, aligning with prior reports of illicit funds flowing into the country totaling hundreds of billions of baht and vote-buying payments as high as 7,500 baht per voter, potentially amounting to 200 billion baht. He called on the Election Commission to conduct a thorough investigation and warned politicians involved to cease immediately, cautioning that if left unchecked, the country could face a crisis.
