Udomdej Urges Election Commission and Anti-Money Laundering Office to Investigate Suspicious Large Bank Withdrawals Before Election Day

Udomdej urges the Election Commission and the Anti-Money Laundering Office to investigate suspiciously large bank withdrawals, emphasizing the need to cut off corruption at its source before the election day. He recommends expanding the probe into suspicious funds amounting to 250 million baht and reiterates that the Thai Sang Thai Party rejects vote-buying.

On 29 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Udomdej Rattanasathien, a party-list MP candidate from the Thai Sang Thai Party, commented on the Bank of Thailand's detection of unusually large cash withdrawals exceeding 250 million baht, primarily in 500-baht notes. He fully supports the Bank of Thailand's proactive efforts, noting that such targeted and large cash movements close to the election period are a worrying indicator that these funds might be misused, especially to build networks undermining the democratic system.

The strict financial oversight by regulatory agencies represents a crucial step toward reducing opportunities for covert influence over public decision-making. The Thai Sang Thai Party firmly supports good governance and elections free from vote-buying. The Bank of Thailand's planned measures to limit cash withdrawal ceilings and implement profiling of large cash users will serve as effective tools to block gray money and off-the-record funds from distorting political competition.

"I urge relevant agencies, including the Anti-Money Laundering Office and the Election Commission, to expedite data sharing and expand investigations based on the Bank of Thailand's findings to ensure clarity and transparency to the public. Controlling abnormal money flows will cut corruption at its source. Ensuring the upcoming election is as pure and fair as possible is a responsibility shared by all sectors, not just one agency. This proactive approach is not about targeting any party but about setting a new standard for Thai society to guarantee election results truly reflect the people's genuine voice. I am ready to communicate and campaign with party members and the public on the importance of joint scrutiny to transition Thailand toward clean politics and bolster confidence in the economy and national stability over the long term."
