Abhisit Visits Krabi to Campaign Against Corruption and Call Center Scams, Boost Confidence in Chinese Tourism

"Abhisit" visits Krabi, raises the flag against corruption, pushes for a 1,000 baht elderly pension, and an elderly woman blesses him, hoping he will return as prime minister.

On 30 January 2026, Abhisit Vejjajiva, party leader and prime ministerial candidate of the Democrat Party, along with key figures, visited Krabi Province to meet the people and assist parliamentary candidates in campaigning. The first stop at Khlong Thom fresh market was lively, with vendors and locals surrounding him to offer flowers and encouragement. An elderly woman clasped Abhisit's hand and blessed him, saying, "May you become prime minister again." The group then proceeded to the Muang district for a major speech attended by a large crowd of supporters.

In his speech, Abhisit stated that corruption is the root cause of Thailand's stalled economy and drug problems. He announced a policy to revive the country through honest politics, emphasizing that the nation must start with clean governance to address livelihood issues and agricultural product prices. He also pledged to systematically promote palm oil legislation to enhance export standards.

Abhisit also said he would speed up the crackdown on scammer gangs and illegal capital to restore confidence among Chinese tourists. Furthermore, universal welfare policies would include truly free education and a universal 1,000 baht pension to improve the quality of life for the elderly.

Abhisit concluded by asking for support from the people of Krabi on 8 February to help lead Thailand back to steady and dignified progress.
