Pheu Thai and Prachachon Open to Government Formation Talks, Phaopoom Says It Depends on the People

The government formation formula after the 2026 election: “Phaopoom” confirms Pheu Thai has no restrictions, leaving it to the people. “Weerayut” appeals for votes for Prachachon to lead, stressing two conditions: no coalition with Kla Tham Party and no vote for “Anutin”.

At 19:25 on 30 January 2026, during the final segment of the “One More Try” debate with Thairath Election 69, the host asked about the government formation formula of Pheu Thai and Prachachon parties, regardless of who becomes the prime minister or which party they come from.

Mr. Phaopoom Rojanasakul, Deputy Leader of Pheu Thai, replied that Pheu Thai is clear about this election, taking a positive outlook and presenting policies that the people see as good or appealing. He said Pheu Thai focuses on policies in this election, discussing what the party offers and what the people will receive. They are open to adjustments and feedback from the public, focusing solely on policies.

“We are not a party that points fingers to say who is good or bad, because everyone is going through the election process. The people see and know everything, and in a democracy, we have to trust that the people will choose based on what they observe, which is the best judgment.”

The host pressed again: Whatever the election results, if the votes can form a coalition government, Pheu Thai does not close the door on such a government formation formula, correct? Mr. Phaopoom replied, “I personally have no restrictions. It depends on what the people choose.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Weerayut Kanchuchat, Prachachon Party’s prime ministerial candidate, responded by stating they have only two conditions: not to vote for Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul as prime minister and no coalition with the Kla Tham Party. He emphasized that if the public wants Prachachon to lead the government, they should vote for the party in large numbers so they can ensure policies and directions align with what the people want.
