Yongyuth delivered a strong speech, harshly criticizing certain political parties for colluding with the Wa Dang group, using illicit money in an attempt to buy villagers' votes. He urged people not to believe this and warned them to be cautious of identity fraud involving Thai ID cards used in elections.
On 30 Jan 2026 GMT+7, at Mae Chan Wittayakhom School in Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province, Mr. Yongyuth Tiyapairat, former minister and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, took the stage to campaign for Miss Piyaratch Tiyapairat, candidate number 2 for Chiang Rai’s 2nd constituency, who is running in her hometown.
Yongyuth said this time he asked the people of Mae Chan and district 2 to keep the championship for their home MP (Miss Piyaratch). Regarding local issues, he acknowledged that villagers suffer, especially from the Wa Dang group infiltrating and illegally obtaining Thai ID cards, then engaging in criminal activities involving drugs and scams.
"Currently, some parties are conspiring with the Wa Dang group, which is gaining momentum in this district. I urge villagers not to believe them and to be cautious about identity fraud involving Thai ID cards used by others to vote in place of rightful citizens. Do not be fooled by vote-buying because the money they bring is all Wa Dang money, money that was buried underground and now used for this purpose. If you don’t believe me, when you receive it, smell it—it has a musty odor because it was buried underground."
Yongyuth added that the only way to suppress the Wa Dang group and these people is to vote overwhelmingly for the Pheu Thai Party on 8 February. Prevent the Wa Dang group from returning, and if we come into government, we will decisively suppress them.
