Election Commission Emphasizes Today Is Last Day to Publish Poll Results Political Party Policy Approval Set for 2 Feb

Sawang revealed that preparations are underway to present observations on political party policies to the Election Commission for approval on Monday, 2 February. He admitted the release would be too late for advance voters to use in decision-making but insisted it was not delayed. He also emphasized that poll results are prohibited from being published from 1 February onward.

On 31 January 2026, Mr. Sawang Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC), spoke about the progress in reviewing political party policies, stating that on Monday, 2 February, all reports will be presented at an EC meeting for approval before publication. The appointed committee, according to the EC office, is highly regarded because it includes national-level experts overseeing finance and public policy, who have provided valuable information. He believes that once the EC approves and the observations are published, it will benefit voters and serve as a lesson for future elections where parties propose various policies.

However, Sawang acknowledged that although the report reviewing party policies and the committee's observations will not be published in time for voters registered for advance voting on 1 February to use in their decisions, it is not considered delayed because each party has already published its own policy details. In fact, the observations on party policies are only about 5–10 pages and can be read quickly. The committee had only 12 days to study these, as the EC required parties to submit their policies by the final deadline of 19 January. The total budget proposed by all parties exceeds one trillion baht, a significant amount, so fairness to the committee must be maintained.

Sawang also commented on the disclosure of election opinion surveys or polls, stating that today (31 January) is the last day to publish poll results. From 1 February onward until election day, polls fall within the seven-day period during which publishing poll results is prohibited.
