“Chuan” Urges Trang People to Preserve the “Old Man’s Legacy,” Emphasizes Southern Pride Against Vote Buying

“Chuan Leekpai” campaigns actively in Trang to urge people to preserve the “Old Man’s Legacy,” emphasizing southern pride and opposition to vote buying.

On 31 January 2026 at the Trang Municipality Market (Old Market) in Trang Province, Chuan Leekpai, a Democrat Party (DP) party-list candidate and former prime minister, campaigned to support Thanophas Sinchai, the DP candidate for Trang constituency 1. Walking through the morning market, he met with locals seeking their votes. Most villagers greeted him warmly, promising to vote for the DP, calling it the “Old Man’s Legacy”—a popular phrase referring to the Democrat Party in the South, where many have supported the party since their grandparents' generations and passed down the loyalty through the family line.

Chuan walked the streets campaigning with his team, publicizing past achievements and the continuation of DP policies to benefit Trang residents. He urged villagers to uphold southern pride and reject vote buying amid reports of intense vote-buying and voter list collection by some parties in the South. Chuan emphasized that DP leader Abhisit will hold a major rally on 3 February 2026 at 4:30 p.m. in front of the old provincial hall, with himself, Satit Wongnongtoey, Juree Numkaew (DP deputy leaders), and all four Trang DP candidates attending that day.
