Peerapun of the United Thai Nation Party campaigned in Thonburi to support Kawin and Narongchai, while Bang Khae Market residents pressed for solutions to high gas prices and endorsed their parliamentary bids to continue tackling the energy crisis.
On 31 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Peerapun Sareeratwipak, leader of the United Thai Nation Party, along with Ms. Sasikarn Wattanajan, party deputy spokesperson, Mr. Watthana Pu-ob-orm (Tong Sit Choi), party list MP candidate, and Ms. Kanyavee Jarusampankonok, Bangkok MP candidate for constituency 32, visited Bang Khae Market to support Mr. Narongchai Tharna, candidate for Bangkok constituency 29 (Bang Khae-Nong Khaem), number 9, and Mr. Kawin Chatavanich, candidate for constituency 30 (Bang Khae-Phasi Charoen), number 4, campaigning for the United Thai Nation Party. The atmosphere was lively as vendors and shoppers warmly welcomed and encouraged them. During the visits around Bang Khae Market and nearby Phetkasem Road communities, residents and merchants presented roses to Peerapun and cheered for him to become an MP to resolve the energy crisis and the livelihoods crisis faced by Bang Khae residents, most of whom want lower cooking gas prices that impact their businesses.
Peerapun stated that during his two years as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, energy costs have consistently been reduced, including oil and electricity. Particularly, cooking gas prices were fixed at 423 baht per 15-kilogram cylinder, with gas costs at 25 baht per kilogram. Currently, gas costs are 17 baht per kilogram, but retail prices have soared above 480 baht per 15-kilogram cylinder, revealing how much energy monopolies exploit ordinary citizens.
He then visited Pong Sirichai Village and Soi Sirikasem communities to meet mostly elderly vendors. He proposed a universal welfare policy of 1,500 baht per month combined with an emergency fund offering interest-free loans of 50,000 baht per person to one million recipients to address liquidity issues for low-income earners. Regarding senior employment, Peerapun said the United Thai Nation Party recognizes the importance of seniors who remain capable and will create 300,000 government jobs with a minimum salary of 12,000 baht. These jobs would involve social assistance or community care roles, such as elder caregivers or helpers for people with disabilities.
