Election Commission Approves Foreign Organizations to Observe Elections and Referendum

The Election Commission has approved representatives from Canada and foreign organizations to observe the elections and referendum voting across 32 provinces on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7.


On 31 Jan 2026 GMT+7 at 14:30, the Election Commission Office announced that the Canadian Embassy in Thailand has sent representatives to observe the referendum voting scheduled on the same day as the election of new House of Representatives members, on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7. Three observers will monitor in Bangkok. Meanwhile, the British Embassy in Thailand has sent 15 representatives to observe in six provinces: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nonthaburi, Buriram, Phayao, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.


At the same time, the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) has also sent representatives to observe. They will monitor the advance voting for House elections on 1 Feb 2026 GMT+7, both inside and outside constituencies, as well as the main election and referendum voting on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7. A total of 25 observers will cover 32 provinces including Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Chumphon, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nakhon Sawan, Nonthaburi, Buriram, Pathum Thani, Pattani, Phayao, Phatthalung, Phitsanulok, Maha Sarakham, Rayong, Ratchaburi, Lamphun, Si Sa Ket, Songkhla, Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Surat Thani, Nong Khai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Udon Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani.


The Election Commission Office has assigned its provincial offices to facilitate the observation process for the referendum voting scheduled on the same day as the House election. This support is provided to delegations from foreign embassies in Thailand and ANFREL as appropriate and in accordance with the legal framework governing election observation.
