Sruang Teaches Attakorn: Ministerial Roles Come with Power and Responsibility, Not Excuses

Sruang sharply reminded Attakorn that the ministerial position comes with responsibility and is not a role for making excuses. This followed Attakorn's speech criticizing the SEA Games organization, including sarcastic remarks about last-minute plan cancellations and event changes.

On 31 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Sruang Teianthong, candidate for Sa Kaeo Province, District 3, and former Minister of Tourism and Sports, responded to Minister Attakorn Sirilattayakorn's speech, which criticized the SEA Games organization and was widely criticized for not meeting expected standards. After watching the clip, he expressed concern about Attakorn's approach to work, noting that a ministerial role carries significant power and responsibility. He stressed that leadership requires accepting facts and outcomes of decisions rather than shifting blame to others. In reality, many plan changes and cancellations were decisions made by management themselves under tight time constraints, inevitably affecting the overall event and open to public scrutiny based on observable facts. Regarding Attakorn's claim that becoming a minister was not a coincidence or a “lucky break,” Sruang urged the public to judge based on tangible results. Throughout his own career, Sruang said he never prioritized political issues but focused on the nation's interests and image because, ultimately, positions are not excuses but duties that must be proven through concrete achievements visible to society.
