Hashtag "Advance Voting Outside Constituency" surged to trend after the opening of advance voting for the 2026 election, along with a reminder today "there will be no referendum voting"
At 08:00 on 1 February 2026, the advance voting process officially began. Today, voters will elect members of the House of Representatives (MPs) by both constituency and party-list systems as set by the Election Commission (EC). Those registered for advance voting can cast their ballots at their registered polling stations, which will provide the election date, name, constituency, polling station, location, and party-list number.
At the same time, it was emphasized that today there will be no referendum voting (yellow ballots); polling stations will only distribute two ballot papers.
1. Green ballot for constituency MP voting, where voters mark (X) only one candidate number to choose their local representative.
2. Pink ballot for party-list MP voting, where voters mark (X) only one party number to select their preferred political party.
As of 11:00, reports indicate that following the advance voting opening at 08:00, there has been significant public discussion on the matter, causing the hashtag#AdvanceVotingOutsideConstituencyto surge to number one trending on Twitter (X).
However, the EC allows registered advance voters to cast their ballots from 08:00 to 17:00. After polls close, votes will not be counted immediately; counting will occur simultaneously with the main election on Sunday, 8 February 2026, after the polls close. Those who voted in advance can still participate in the referendum voting on 8 February at their assigned or registered out-of-constituency polling stations.
