Rangsit Rom Releases Motivational Clip for 8 Feb Voting to Change the Country

Rom released a motivational clip for the 8 February vote to change the country, recounting his opposition to the 2014 coup, subsequent prosecution, and most recently being sued in the Phayao court merely for fulfilling his duty to protect the country's interests.

On 1 February 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Rangsit Rom, a party-list candidate for the Prachachon Party, posted a video recounting his experiences starting from when he was an activist opposing the 2014 coup, facing legal action in the military court, up to his recent appearance at the Phayao Provincial Court alongside Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, also a Prachachon Party party-list candidate, following a defamation lawsuit filed by Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat Prompao, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Kla Tham Party.

Mr. Rangsit posted a message with the video saying: "Over the past ten years, I never imagined that the 2014 coup would become a pivotal moment in my life, propelling me to enter politics. From the day of the coup to the dispersal of protests in front of the art gallery, those images remain vivid to me even after more than a decade. After the coup, we witnessed attempts by the coup leaders to use power and laws as tools to suppress those demanding democracy, which is the highest interest of the Thai people. My experience of standing trial in a military court led me to deeply question the very existence of 'justice' in such a society. Today, this video tells the story of how Ice and I had to appear in the Phayao court simply because we performed our duty to protect the country's interests. That feeling is familiar, the image well-known: being sued to suppress our role as representatives of the people (though on a different scale than before). Soon, we will see once again how 'justice' will be defined in this society."

"Personally, I have no worries because I believe those in power cannot stop the wheels of change. Fear of the new era that the Prachachon Party is helping to build will only make those wheels turn faster. Ultimately, these people will become just history, and one day their descendants may ask why they were so afraid of the new era. On 8 February, vote to change Thailand."
