Teng Confirms Singing National Anthem at Debate Stage, Awaits Peoples Partys Final Campaign Surprise on 6 Feb

"Teng Nattapong" confirmed his participation in singing the national anthem at the media debate stage, admitting his voice might not be as loud as others. He understands the attempts by the Orange Landslide party to discredit him, challenging people to check the party’s website which shows no policy allowing foreigners on the social security board. He boasts that during the final campaign stretch on 6 February, at the People's Party’s major rally, there will be one more surprise move.

On 1 Feb 2026, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, the People's Party prime ministerial candidate, commented on some parties' nationalist rhetoric, urging the public to closely follow the situation, including the Thai-Cambodian border. He noted media concerns about potential clashes in a third round and whether these would affect the election, emphasizing that it is the Election Commission’s duty to ensure smooth and lawful elections regardless of circumstances.

"Including some parties' speeches that try to stir nationalism to gain political votes, I ask the public to look carefully at the communication methods and whether the words truly reflect patriotism. For me, loving the country means loving the people. Patriotism is not about entering politics to recoup investments and buy or sell votes to win future elections."

Mr. Nattapong addressed the political undermining of the people's party before and after the election, following the so-called Orange Landslide phenomenon. He said this is understandable as the People's Party's rise threatens a minority group benefiting from the current political system, who are now fearful. It is normal for them to launch attacks from all directions. He urged voters to rely only on themselves and follow news and comments directly from party leaders and genuine party members.

He challenged people to visit the party’s website to verify there is no policy permitting foreigners to sit on the social security board.

Mr. Nattapong further addressed attacks against the People's Party, noting many distorted criticisms, such as on social security. He explained that statements he made years ago, since 2023, have been twisted. He clarified that granting foreigners board positions on social security is absolutely not in the party’s policy and invited the public to check the party’s website.

"Because in the final stretch of the election campaign, rumors often arise, including attempts to edit debate clips to make it appear as if I was not moving my lips. But I confirm, as party leader, that I did sing the national anthem, though not as loudly as others. I believe patriotism is not measured by how loudly someone sings or how much their lips move. It is about actions. I want everyone to see such news and follow the facts thoroughly," said Mr. Nattapong.

Mr. Nattapong also discussed the ongoing legal battles against private companies regarding electricity, aiming to reduce electricity costs by pushing the government to reform monopolistic concessions. He called on the public to support him and the People's Party, acknowledging that despite facing lawsuits, many party members, including Ms. Rakchanok Srinok and Mr. Rangsiman Rome, have also been sued and had to appear in Phayao.

"Our demands have caused wounds, but ultimately serve the country’s interests. I urge everyone to vote for both People's Party ballots and approve the referendum ballot on 8 February. I promise that if we gain power to form a government, we will implement all policies for the benefit of the majority," Mr. Nattapong stated.

Additionally, as party leader, he briefly mentioned that the party’s final campaign ace will be revealed during the People's Party's major speech on 6 February, promising one last impactful surprise.
