Early Voting at Border Areas Bustling Locals Hope New Government Will Address Economic Issues

Early voting for the 2026 election in the border areas is lively. Locals hope the new government will address economic issues because they have grown accustomed to ongoing border problems.

On 1 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters observed that at the dome of Lahan Sai Municipality in Lahan Sai District, the early voting registration point, voters registered to vote outside their home districts have been steadily arriving since morning.

Ms. Mintra Phuang-in, 27, stated she came to vote according to the law, with the intention of seeing a government formed quickly to solve the current national problems. She added she hopes the new government will fulfill its campaign promises, as previous administrations have failed to do so.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ekjamroon Chomchan, from Chanthaburi Province, said he lives with his wife's family in Tajo Subdistrict, Lahan Sai District, and works as a market trader. He wants a government that urgently addresses economic problems because the economy is currently very poor. Regarding border or international issues, he said military authorities should handle those, as border residents are now accustomed to such problems.

Mr. Komkrit Pholpuak, senior district official of Lahan Sai, reported that this polling station is in Constituency 9 of Buriram. There are 458 registered out-of-area voters from 61 provinces nationwide. Most are civil servants working in Lahan Sai District; some live in their spouse's homes but have not changed their registration. Overall, voting proceeded smoothly without any issues.
