Abhisit led a major speech in Nakhon Si Thammarat, emphasizing that the Democrat Party will not become extinct and those who underestimate it will disappear first. He described the party as "Grandfather’s heritage." Meanwhile, Juree apologized to southern voters for past issues and asked for a fresh start with the Democrat Party. He also criticized the orange and blue parties as completely blind. Chaiyanat declared his loyalty, saying his blue blood will not move anywhere and he will stay with the Democrat Party.
At 19:40 on 1 Feb 2026, the Democrat Party held a major rally at the parking lot in front of Robinson Ocean Mall in Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Leading the event were Abhisit Vejjajiva, party leader and prime ministerial candidate; Chaiyanat Detdecho, deputy party leader overseeing the South; Satit Wongnongtoey; and Juree Nunkaew, deputy party leader and candidate for Songkhla’s 2nd constituency.
Juree said in his speech that it has been a long time since tens of thousands gathered to listen, signaling that some may have already accepted shadow money or turned blue, regardless of names. But he urged voters to remember that the power lies with them. He appealed for steadfastness on 8 Feb and to avoid wavering.
“In the past, Nakhon Si Thammarat was all blue, but over the last six years, there have been fights, anger, and discomfort like a married couple who have grown distant and started favoring other colors. We loved each other for 80 years, with some quarrels and sulking, but it was fine. But these past six years with another partner involved fighting, cheating, and stealing from our pockets. Now, they come back seeking reconciliation. If past actions caused discomfort or conflict, can we forgive? If so, on behalf of the new generation within the Democrat Party, I sincerely apologize for past actions and ask for understanding of our good intentions. Now they are seeking to reconcile themselves,” Juree said.
Juree continued, comparing this election to a card game called 'beat the dealer,' like playing a pok 9 game where a 2 and 7 make 9. The rival parties played 3 and 7, resulting in a blind hand, and another party played 4 and 6, also blind. The dealer loses in both cases, so voters must ensure the dealer loses.
Satit said this election must restore the dignity of southern voters with principled politics that reject shadow capital. If united clearly, the South will form the government. Recent opinion polls show the Democrat Party rising to third place. Therefore, he urged the two Democrat Party tickets that the South deserves to form the government.
At 20:25, Abhisit Vejjajiva, Democrat Party leader, gave a speech thanking the overwhelming crowds. Throughout the day, from Thung Song, Thung Yai, Cha-uat, Bang Khan, Huai Sai to Pak Phanang districts, the party received warm welcomes. Having returned about four months ago amid harsh criticism of the party, he said everywhere he went, people expressed regret for the party’s state. He warned that those claiming the Democrat Party has no future will be the ones without a future. The party has returned. Even at night, he saw the blue color. But he cannot do it alone and has gathered new people across all generations as key forces. He is determined and declares that anyone joining the Democrat Party must stay long-term to support it forever.
“How is it possible that a party underestimated as doomed can now unite people of all generations and groups? It is because the Democrat Party is the heritage of our elders. Like when I first entered politics at 27, every vote I got came from the legacy of Khuang, Mom Sane, Pichai Ratkul, and Chuan Leekpai. This is the people’s heritage. The country’s biggest problem today is corruption. If we allow it to continue, the economy will worsen, justice will vanish, and people’s lives will decline. Some say even in the South, where vote buying is claimed absent, the last election was the worst for vote buying. Politics have changed, and they say don’t come back. I say I have fought my whole life, as Chuan did, and I won’t accept seeing the South like this. I have returned to expel corrupt and vote-buying elements from the South first. But I cannot do it alone. If you want me to succeed, please elect many of us,” Abhisit said.
Abhisit added that corruption is not intangible. Thailand’s poor economy and lack of foreign investment stem from concerns about having to pay bribes and unfair competition. Justice is widely seen as unreliable. People suffer as cheap, substandard, and illegal goods flood the market. Shadow capital and scammers steal hundreds of billions annually. Though laws exist, such as anti-money laundering and securities laws, enforcement stalls due to dishonest politics. He vowed that if the Democrat Party leads government, within 100 days they will focus on suppressing shadow capital. Anyone obstructing this should prepare to be removed. If the Democrat Party leads the government, the economy will grow 5% within four years. He urged voters to choose number 27 for the Democrat Party and elect many district candidates to serve.
Chaiyanat declares a single lifetime commitment: blue blood will not move anywhere and will stay with the Democrat Party.
Deputy party leader Chaiyanat Detdecho, overseeing the South, said in a major speech:
He and Phitakdet Detdecho, along with former Nakhon Si Thammarat MP Songsak Musikhong, three MPs, stand firm and will not defect. He challenged former MP Rachit Sudphum, who switched parties, to explain his reasons. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the Democrat Party under Abhisit’s leadership. “I have one life, born once, and one party. I pledge my political life as a man named Chaiyanat Detdecho to be loyal to the Democrat Party and will not switch. Don’t bring money or offers; I love the Democrat Party. With six days remaining, please help the Democrat Party become the lead party in forming the government.”
