8 Feb 2026 Election: Voting Procedures and Identification for MP Election and Referendum

The 2026 election on Sunday, 8 February, the Election Commission (EC) stresses the procedures for voting in the MP election and referendum, including acceptable identification such as expired ID cards or access via the ThaiD app or DLT QR Licence app.

On 2 February 2026, the Election Commission (EC) invited eligible voters to participate in the important national duties simultaneously: the constituency MP election, party-list MP election, and the referendum, all on Sunday, 8 February 2026, from 08:00 to 17:00 GMT+7.

Voting procedures for the 2026 election and referendum: identity verification twice

1. Verify the voter registration and referendum eligibility lists.

2. Prepare valid identification documents.

3. Present identification to officials to vote and sign or fingerprint the voter list.

. 4. Sign or fingerprint the ballot stub, then receive two ballots: a green ballot for constituency MP election, a pink ballot for party-list MP election, and get your ID returned.

5. Enter the voting booth and mark an X correctly on the ballots.

6. Fold the ballots and personally place them into the ballot boxes correctly.

. 7. Present identification to officials to vote in the referendum and sign or fingerprint the referendum voter list.

8. Sign or fingerprint the ballot stub, then receive the yellow referendum ballot and get your ID returned.

9. Enter the booth and mark an X on the referendum ballot.

10. Fold the ballot, place it personally into the referendum ballot box, and exit the polling station.

Acceptable identification for voting

  • National ID card (expired cards are acceptable).
  • Other official government or state agency photo IDs with personal ID numbers, such as civil servant ID cards, valid driver's licenses, or passports that have not expired.
  • Digital identification apps issued by the government, such as ThaiD, DLT QR Licence, digital disability ID app, or other government apps.

The EC also emphasized the importance of marking ballots correctly without spoiling them, so that votes for both the election and referendum will be counted.
