Ice Rakchanok revealed that in two military camps, senior soldiers monitored how ballots were marked. She declared that the EC secretary-general's mere apology is unacceptable and disciplinary measures are necessary. During early voting, candidates’ names disappeared from the boards, which she believes is a deliberate injustice against the People’s Party.
2 Feb 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list candidate for the People’s Party (PPP). She spoke about the errors during early voting on 1 Feb, noting that the defect was the absence of People’s Party candidate signs on the name boards. This issue was found in provinces including Chonburi, Chiang Rai, Nakhon Pathom, Ayutthaya, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Bangkok, and recently others as well. When people asked why the PPP signs were missing, EC officials claimed the candidates had been disqualified. She believes this was intentional and not a mere mistake, saying the officials know well it’s unfair to the People’s Party.
Ms. Rakchanok added that two other issues occurred in military camps: before the election, mobile phones were collected, and meetings were held to indoctrinate soldiers not to vote for parties that undervalue the military—that is, not to vote for the People’s Party—and not to amend the constitution, since amending it would affect Section 112. She called this misinformation. During out-of-area voting inside military camps, only EC officials, senior soldiers, and junior soldiers were present—no outsiders allowed to observe. She was informed that senior soldiers even monitored how ballots were marked. When asked about the extent of reports, she said she received reports from two camps but declined to name them to avoid trouble, and that roughly three camps held such indoctrination meetings.
Regarding EC secretary-general Mr. Sarawong Boonmee’s apology and admission of error, Ms. Rakchanok said: “He should not apologize; he should resign. If after organizing three elections he still cannot ensure transparency and fairness, how will he handle the votes of citizens who diligently cast their ballots? Their intent was given to political parties, but some votes were not counted due to EC errors. This is a major issue. For example, in the 2023 election, Bangkok’s constituency 33 lost four votes. The voters clearly showed their choice, but the EC failed to count them because of their mistakes. This is serious. Don’t say it’s just a few votes. The EC should not make careless statements like this. An apology is not enough; the public wants to see punishment.”
Ms. Rakchanok also stated that People’s Party candidates are gradually filing complaints. Elsewhere, candidates are filing complaints individually. The sole duty over the next four years is to ensure good elections, but currently, there is no capacity to do so. They also lack tools to hold the EC accountable because the constitution provides no mechanisms for that. This is why they must vote to approve initiating the constitutional amendment process. Even if the public is angry nationwide at the EC, nothing can be done because there is no channel to remove the EC officials.
