The People's Party scheduled to submit a letter to the Election Commission on 3 February to urgently investigate and order the dismissal of officials who provided false information during early voting, threatening to file a complaint under Section 157 if no action is taken, and demanding measures to prevent repeated errors on the 8 February election day.
On 2 February 2026, the People's Party submitted an urgent letter to the Election Commission (EC) stating that regarding the early voting held at central polling stations outside and inside electoral districts on 1 February, facts reported widely by media and voters revealed errors in the duties of election officials, chairpersons, and members at the central polling stations, as well as those appointed to assist in election operations, such as:
(1) Cases where officials at central polling stations outside electoral districts failed to fill in the province, electoral district, or district code of voters on the ballot envelope form (Form S.S.5/2), or filled it incorrectly—for example, at Bang Bo Wittayakom School polling station in Samut Prakan Province, officials at the polling station for voters from Phetchabun Province wrote the province code on the ballot envelope as 57 instead of the correct code 67 for Phetchabun.
This may constitute improper performance according to the Election Commission’s regulations on the election of members of the House of Representatives, B.E. 2566 (2023) and its amendments, Article 200, which requires officials at central polling stations outside electoral districts to correctly record the province, electoral district, and district code of voters on the ballot envelope (Form S.S.5/2) before handing over the ballots, envelopes, and identity documents to voters for early voting.
Such improper conduct directly distorts the will of voters since each electoral district and each party candidate has a unique ballot number, potentially making the election unfair and lacking transparency.
(2) At several central polling stations in Chonburi Province, including Wat Phan Sadet Non-District Station, the Chonburi Provincial Hall station, the dome building at Muang Pattaya School 7, and the dome building at Sitthisunthorn School (upper secondary section) in Sattahip District, there was no public posting of candidate lists for the House of Representatives single-member constituencies (Form S.S.4/14), including for Mrs. Thipa Paveenasathien, candidate number 8 from the People's Party in Lampang Province’s electoral district 1. Additionally, voters who inquired about the missing candidate list were falsely told by election officials that the candidate was disqualified by the Supreme Court, which is incorrect information.
Due to these problems with early voting operations, the People's Party calls on the Election Commission to urgently establish measures to prevent errors in the general election on 8 February 2026, and to investigate election officials nationwide for any signs of corruption, dereliction of duty, or intentional misconduct against EC regulations. If corruption is found, officials should be immediately dismissed, which is within the EC’s direct authority.
If facts and evidence show that any election officials, staff, or commissioners avoid their duties or commit corruption, the People's Party reserves the right to pursue full legal action against them under Section 23 of the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives B.E. 2561 (2018) and amendments, Section 69 of the Organic Act on the Election Commission B.E. 2560 (2017), and Section 157 of the Criminal Code for dereliction of duty.
The People's Party's legal team will officially submit this urgent letter to the Election Commission on Tuesday, 3 February at 08:46 GMT+7.
