His Majesty the King has graciously granted royal permission to rename the King's Guard units from being under Her Majesty the Queen Mother to being under His Majesty the King, covering 18 units.
On 2 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the Royal Gazette website published a royal command announcing the gracious granting of royal permission to rename the King's Guard units. The content states that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has issued a royal command granting royal permission to rename the King's Guard units.
By virtue of the authority under Section 8 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2560 (2017), together with Section 5 of the Act on the Administration of Royal Affairs B.E. 2560 (2017), Sections 8 (2), 10 (5), 15, and 17 (7) of the Act on the Organization of the Ministry of Defence B.E. 2551 (2008), and the 2nd Amendment Act of the Ministry of Defence B.E. 2556 (2013).
Therefore, His Majesty has graciously granted royal permission to rename the King's Guard units from under Her Majesty the Queen Mother to under His Majesty the King, totaling 18 units as follows:
1. The 2nd Infantry Division, King's Guard, under Her Majesty the Queen Mother is renamed to the 2nd Infantry Division, King's Guard, under His Majesty the King.
2. The 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, under Her Majesty the Queen Mother is renamed to the 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, under His Majesty the King.
3. The 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, under Her Majesty the Queen Mother is renamed to the 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, under His Majesty the King.
