Pheu Thai Mobilizes Major Rally in Sri Muang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Vows to Reclaim District 7, Urges Support for Candidate Tee Lek

Pheu Thai mobilized a major campaign rally at Sri Muang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, announcing their intention to reclaim District 7. Natthawut expressed anger, declaring that the Red Shirts are not to be exploited by traitors, urging support for candidate "Tee Lek" to deliver a sweeping victory, driving out turncoats with a message loud enough to reach Thaksin in prison.

At 09:25 on 3 February 2026 at Sri Muang Mai district, Ubon Ratchathani, the Pheu Thai party held a large campaign rally led by Yotsanan Wongsawat, the party’s prime ministerial candidate, along with party leader Chulapan Amornwiwat, also a prime ministerial candidate. They campaigned for Cherdsak Phokkulkanon, known as "Tee Lek," the Pheu Thai candidate for Ubon Ratchathani District 7, number 5. Other party leaders, including Poomtham Vejchaychai, Chusak Sirinil, and Prasert Chantraruangthong, joined the campaign. The atmosphere was lively with a full crowd of supporters. In District 7, Cherdsak is competing against Sudarat Pitakpornpalop, the former champion who was previously with Pheu Thai but switched to Bhumjaithai for this election.

Natthawut Saiyakoa, Pheu Thai’s campaign assistant, opened his speech by addressing former Pheu Thai MPs from District 7 who switched to Bhumjaithai. He said he had three to four days left to campaign and asked for votes for Pheu Thai. He urged voters to mark Pheu Thai candidate number 9 to send them to form the government and to have Pheu Thai MPs in parliament.

“Brothers and sisters in this district have always voted for Pheu Thai. This time, we are bringing an MP, but why is it a different person? I remember last time it wasn’t a man, but now it’s a man. It’s unbelievable how quickly things have changed. When I got off the vehicle, I asked people why the posters for the MP in this district show a man from Pheu Thai. They said the previous person has left us. Dear friends, since they left us, this man is now going to represent us in parliament.”

Natthawut said that before coming to the rally, his team sent him a poster showing Cherdsak, himself, and Yotsanan skydiving together mid-air. He said it was fitting: “I’ve already jumped down; now help the people of Ubon. Please vote both ballots.”

Natthawut spoke about watching TV news recently and recalling that Anutin Charnvirakul, prime minister and leader of Bhumjaithai, was previously just a minor figure here. Anutin wasn’t prime minister before but suddenly became one.

“He turned from a minor figure into an orange lion. They let him lead for four months to amend the constitution, then dissolved the parliament. But he didn’t amend the constitution, stayed two months, then dissolved the parliament. That’s a trick, the prime minister called MPs here and there, but we don’t call them ‘her’. We choose Tee. We’re bringing Tee into parliament.”

Natthawut emphasized that Pheu Thai has stood with the people of Ubon through thick and thin. This time, if elected to parliament, Pheu Thai intends to stay long and firmly. “Don’t switch parties, understand? Cherdsak.”

“Prime Minister, you explained that MPs who left to join you made a firm decision, which is your choice. But I want to say that while it may be a firm decision for you, it’s unclear to us. You decided firmly to join but did not clearly communicate with us. Our party leader Chulapan, and senior members like Poomtham Vejchaychai, have asked repeatedly, but the answer remains unclear. So today, I tell everyone clearly: Pheu Thai’s candidate is Tee Lek Cherdsak. Pheu Thai will be number one, form the government, with Yotsanan as prime minister.”

Natthawut said, “This is red, not orange. The Red Shirts are not to be exploited. If Tee Lek enters parliament representing Pheu Thai, I will closely follow his work. If he works well, I will campaign for him again. But if he disappoints, no matter how you call or even parachute me in, I won’t come. I believe Cherdsak will be an MP for two more terms, possibly a minister for two terms. If not, maybe the third or fourth term. One person is in one party, the father in another. Some, like Paethongtarn Shinawatra, became prime minister and were removed from office. The father was prime minister through elections with the most achievements and is now imprisoned. Even though Pheu Thai has suffered this much, we never give up. We keep walking with the people and believe firmly in their power and votes. The walls of Ubon will break through all the way to the prison to Thaksin Shinawatra.”

Natthawut affirmed that all announced policies are achievable and will be implemented concretely. The opposing side is very large and has no problem with votes; everything is set. If anyone mocks the sound of our campaign, they should know they have prepared ammunition by the heap—enough to fill carts. When it’s time, they will distribute it widely, believing they can buy votes from the people of Ubon. But they underestimate the people of Ubon; I will prove it.

“They have prepared heaps of ammunition to distribute to buy votes and control the situation. People of Ubon Ratchathani, will you accept money to sell your rights and votes?”

Natthawut spoke to the Red Shirts who have worn red shirts for over 20 years and shared many struggles: “I want to tell you that the red shirt you wear is as old as mine. Our hearts remain one, we stand together, and on 8 February, we will show the whole country that those with red hearts still stand with the party moving forward. I am determined to dedicate myself because I believe in this party, in you, and in this campaign. The party that speaks most about policies is Pheu Thai.”
