Advance Ballot Sorting Process Launched Election Commission Assures Secure Vote Handling

The Election Commission (EC), together with Thailand Post, the Department of Consular Affairs, and the police, has launched the sorting process for advance ballots, stressing strict control to ensure timely delivery to election districts across the country. Secretary-General Saweang called for confidence that every vote will be securely handled.


At 2:00 p.m. on 3 February 2026, at the Laksi Postal Center, the Election Commission (EC) joined with Thailand Post Co., Ltd., the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Royal Thai Police to announce the opening of an operation center to sort advance ballots already cast both abroad and domestically. These ballots will be delivered to 400 destination election districts nationwide as part of the ongoing mission to elect members of the House of Representatives (MPs). and the referendum voting for the year 2026, under stringent security and verification measures at every step to ensure the election process proceeds smoothly and transparently. The event was observed by Mr. Narong Klanwarin, Chairman of the Election Commission, and Mr. Anan Suwanrat, EC member.

Secretary-General Saweang Boonmee of the EC stated that after the completion of advance voting both inside and outside the kingdom, all advance ballots have entered the management process strictly following legal procedures, from collection and sorting to delivery to destination election districts across the country. "This is to prepare for vote counting on election day. The EC office has integrated cooperation from all relevant agencies to build public confidence that every vote will be securely, transparently, and verifiably handled, ensuring all votes are counted accurately and fairly."


Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs said the department has collaborated with domestic agencies and monitored the operations of Thai embassies, consulates-general, and Thai Trade and Economic Offices at 95 locations worldwide in real-time through the Overseas Voting Monitoring System (OVMS), from the initial stages to the critical current phase of transporting the cast ballots back to Thailand by 5 February 2026. These ballots will then be handed over to Thailand Post’s sorting system, ensuring that votes from Thai people around the world are fully incorporated into the national election process, truly reflecting the people's will.

The President and CEO of Thailand Post Co., Ltd. revealed that Thailand Post is 100% ready to transport advance ballots cast domestically and internationally to 400 election districts across all regions. Over 600 dedicated transport trips have been scheduled to complete delivery before election day on 8 February 2026. He confirmed that all operations adhere strictly to the safety standards and operational plans jointly set with the EC office to ensure every ballot enters the process correctly.

"Every ballot box and envelope is strictly controlled under the prescribed measures, with systematic recording of receipt and delivery status, allowing full traceability at every step to build confidence among the public and all stakeholders. Security measures continue to utilize GPS tracking technology and the POST-POD Dashboard system, alongside stringent on-site supervision, 24-hour CCTV surveillance, restricted access to critical areas, and coordination with security agencies to ensure the highest safety during ballot transport."



Additionally, the Royal Thai Police will deploy over 126,000 officers nationwide to provide continuous, strict security support to related agencies throughout all election stages—from securing coordination centers and sorting centers to safeguarding transport routes. They will also coordinate with Thailand Post to systematically and uniformly deliver ballots to destination election districts nationwide, adhering strictly to political neutrality and legal duties. The police stand ready to support the Election Commission and all relevant agencies to ensure the 2026 election and referendum proceed peacefully, transparently, and with public trust.
