The Royal Thai Army is preparing to submit a request for the royal conferment of the 'Bravery Medal' to personnel who served on the Thai-Cambodian border and displayed exceptional courage in combat to defend Thailand's sovereignty.
On 3 Feb 2026 GMT+7, regarding the recent fighting along the Thai-Cambodian border, including during the Yutbodin Operation in July 2025 and the Century Operation in December 2025, Army personnel assigned to field duties under the order of Jakraphong Phuwanart devoted their physical and mental efforts to defending the nation's sovereignty and preventing enemy incursions to the fullest extent. These events exposed some personnel to highly challenging and critical situations, with immediate risk of injury or death. Nonetheless, these troops remained steadfast in their professional soldier spirit, willing to sacrifice their blood and lives, bravely confronting threats on the battlefield without fear of any danger.
General Pana Klaewplodtuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, acknowledged the great sacrifices made by these personnel, who performed their duties with determination, courage, and without fear despite life-threatening risks. He assigned the Army Personnel Department, together with army units directly under the command operating on the Thai-Cambodian border, to prepare the proposal for the royal conferment of the Bravery Medal to these personnel and the families of fallen heroes. This honors the valor of these soldiers, reciprocates their strong spirit and sacrifice, and boosts morale among troops and their families, allowing them to remember this significant life event of dedication to the nation, with pride preserved forever in the medal bestowed.
Currently, the Army Personnel Department is reviewing the qualifications and mission details of each individual involved in each battlefield, including those who died, with a committee at the army level considering the cases according to the criteria set forth in the Bravery Medal Act of 1978. Once this process is complete, the list of personnel will be promptly submitted to the committee at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters and the Ministry of Defence for final approval and the royal conferment of the Bravery Medal to the personnel and the families of the brave soldiers in a dignified manner.
