Anutin Claims Bhumjaithai Is the Only Party Cambodia Fears Will Form the Government

Anutin proclaimed loudly in Sisaket the permanent closure of the border checkpoint as ordered by the people, affirming that Bhumjaithai is the party Cambodia most fears forming the government.

On 3 February 2026 at the Sisaket Provincial Central Stadium, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, campaigned for the party's nine parliamentary candidates in Sisaket, addressing a crowd that filled the stadium.

Anutin emphasized that the closure of the Thailand-Cambodia border checkpoint is not merely a party policy but a nationwide consensus prohibiting reopening as long as sovereignty issues remain unsettled. Since the closure, prices of agricultural products such as rice, cassava, shallots, and mangoes have clearly risen.

"Why would we reopen the checkpoint for anything else? If we open it, the people would slap us, but closing it earns their applause. This is a clear order I must follow," the Prime Minister said forcefully, adding that Bhumjaithai is the only party Cambodia does not want in government due to its firm stance on territorial sovereignty and national interests. While other parties might negotiate, compromise, or return land, he and Bhumjaithai will not engage in any negotiations at this time to ensure Thai safety and prevent border harassment.

At the end of his speech, Anutin earnestly asked for votes for the party's candidates across the province, highlighting his two-plus months as Prime Minister during which sovereignty was fully preserved and border victims were effectively assisted. He warned that the country has no time for trial and error, advising against switching parties because a single wrong decision could change the nation's future forever.
