For the 2026 election, Bangkok will offer special ID card services at all 50 district offices on 7-8 February 2026 to facilitate voting in the House of Representatives election and the referendum.

The 2026 election falls on 8 February 2026. Thairath Online encourages Thai citizens to exercise their right to vote for the House of Representatives and the referendum from 08:00 to 17:00 at their designated polling stations according to their registered residences.

What to prepare for the 2026 election day

For eligible voters on election day, Sunday, 8 February 2026, remember to bring valid identification documents to present to officials at the polling station.

1. Primary documents

  • The original national ID card

Additionally, expired ID cards are legally acceptable for identity verification during the election. However, photographs or screenshots of the ID card displayed on mobile phones cannot be used as substitutes.

2. Alternative documents (if no ID card is available)

  • Passport
  • State welfare card or other government-issued cards (must include photo and 13-digit citizen ID number)

However, for those who prefer to use their physical ID card to verify identity at the polling station but have lost it or cannot find it and are unable to use alternative documents, Bangkok's registration offices in all 50 districts will be open to provide special ID card issuance services on the general election and referendum days.
