The leader of the Plawath Party rushed to the site to follow up on the bombing at a gas station in Pattani. He expressed concern over the escalating violence ahead of the elections and called on all parties to jointly ensure the safety of citizens and officials. He pointed out that politics is the only effective way to resolve the problems.
On 4 Feb 2026 at 11:30 a.m., Kanweer Suebsang, leader of the Plawath Party, visited the scene inside a gas station in Pattani. Around 9:15 a.m., an explosion occurred at a PTT service station along Road 410 Pattani–Yala, Talubo Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pattani Province. The blast injured one Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officer. Prior to the incident, officials were alerted to suspicious objects found inside the gas station's disabled restroom and conducted a detailed inspection, discovering two time-delayed improvised explosive devices hidden inside the toilets.
At 9:10 a.m., officials successfully defused the first bomb, which was hidden in the children's toilet on the right side. However, during the defusing of the second bomb, located in the adult toilet on the left side, it detonated at 9:15 a.m. The explosion injured Sergeant Pitchitpan Vechchachivi, an EOD officer. He was promptly taken to Pattani Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, forensic officers collected evidence at the scene to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Kanweer Suebsang, leader of the Plawath Party, revealed that he was in Pattani campaigning when he learned of the incident, prompting him to visit the scene personally. He learned that before the explosion, a citizen had reported suspicious objects in the restroom and EOD officers were called in to handle the situation until the bomb exploded during defusing, injuring an officer.
Kanweer stated that according to information received, gas station staff had discovered suspicious items the previous night and had already alerted authorities. He added that this period is politically sensitive and sent encouragement to the local people as well as to the security personnel who are diligently performing their duties.
Kanweer expressed his concern and support for everyone involved and said he would continue monitoring the situation. He urged officials to carry out their duties safely and voiced worry about the situation ahead of the 8 February elections, emphasizing that all parties should prioritize the safety of citizens and avoid exploiting the situation to create unrest.
"Politics is precisely the key to solving the problems in Pattani. It requires the involvement of the people to build lasting peace. If not addressed properly, such issues will recur in the future. The local community does not want to see this, as they have lived with it for 22 years," Kanweer said.
