Steps for Reporting the 2026 Election Results and Referendum: When Will Unofficial Results Be Known?

The Election Commission (EC) has revealed the procedure for reporting the 2026 election and referendum results. After the polls close, votes will be counted at each polling station before being sequentially verified for accuracy, then the unofficial results will be announced.

The 2026 election falls on 8 February 2026. Thairath Online urges Thai citizens to exercise their right to vote for MPs and participate in the referendum from 08:00 to 17:00 at their designated polling stations according to their household registration.

So, when will we know the 2026 election results?

The Office of the Election Commission has disclosed that immediately after the polls close for the election and referendum, the process of reporting unofficial results will begin, following these steps:

  • Voting closes at 17:00, followed by vote counting at each polling station, which is conducted openly in front of the public until completion.
  • After counting finishes, the polling station committee members (PSCs) record the results and upload them to the ECT Report 69 system, which involves three sub-steps:

Step 1: Upload documents by photographing the vote count report form.

Step 2: Enter numerical data including the number of eligible voters, number of ballots, and votes received by candidates/parties or referendum votes.

Step 3: Verify the accuracy once more and confirm submission of the data to the district score center.

  • Data sent from polling stations is forwarded to the district score center (EC subcommittee at the district level) for verification and confirmation into the system.
  • The system processes votes for constituency, party-list, and referendum categories and displays results via the Dashboard.
