Governor Chatchat Emphasizes Transparency, Neutrality, and Convenience for Citizens in the 8 Feb 2026 Election

The Governor of Bangkok emphasized that the 8 February 2026 election must be transparent, honest, and neutral, while facilitating citizens. He revealed maps of polling stations in all 33 districts of Bangkok and 50 off-district referendum voting locations across the city.

5 February 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chatchat Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok presided over the 2/2026 meeting of Bangkok's agency heads, attended by Bangkok's executive team, agency heads, and relevant officials at the Rattanakosin Room, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) City Hall (Sao Chingcha), Phra Nakhon district, and via an online meeting system.

The Governor thanked all district directors for their efforts during the early voting and stressed that the actual election on 8 February will be more demanding due to over 6,000 polling stations and hundreds of thousands of staff involved. A key principle is to anticipate potential situations, such as caring for vulnerable groups including pregnant women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Consideration must be given to convenient transportation and parking for disabled voters or those with mobility restrictions to help facilitate citizens.

“This Sunday’s election must prioritize complete transparency and integrity because public trust in Bangkok is paramount. All officials must remain neutral. If any incidents occur, district directors must be on site, and the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok must promptly address issues in the field from the outset to prevent escalation. Ensure the process proceeds smoothly and report according to the chain of command. Political executives will maintain appropriate distance but stand ready to assist if necessary.”
