On 5 February 2026, the Royal Thai Army received a report from the 2nd Army Area Command stating that at approximately 10:20 am, there was an incident involving a 40mm grenade being fired and landing near a Thai operational base in Kantharalak district, Sisaket province. No personnel were injured in the incident. After the incident, the Thai side prepared to manage the situation and to act in accordance with the rules of engagement.
Furthermore, they coordinated with Cambodian commanders in the area to inform them of the incident. The Cambodian side explained it was a disciplinary breach by new troops deployed in the area and confirmed that the personnel have been reprimanded and warned. .
