Pheu Thai Files Complaint with Election Commission Over Kanchanaburi Audio Clip Alleged to Violate Election Law (Video)

Narawit La-Laeng, a Pheu Thai party-list MP candidate, has filed a complaint with the Election Commission over a Kanchanaburi audio clip, alleging it violates election law and affects campaigning activities of Pheu Thai candidates in the area.

On 5 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Narawit La-Laeng, Pheu Thai party-list MP candidate, went to the Election Commission office to file a complaint about an audio clip allegedly violating election laws concerning parliamentary elections in Kanchanaburi province.

Narawit stated that he came today as an authorized representative of Pheu Thai and as a party-list candidate, assigned to submit a request to the Election Commission to investigate whether the audio clip constitutes an election law violation. The complaint includes three issues: first, the use of language to mislead the public about the popularity of Pheu Thai and its candidates; second, promises of various positions; and third, whether the speaker's use of ministerial authority amounts to interference.

Narawit further explained that the penalties involved are severe, ranging from one to ten years imprisonment and twenty years political disqualification for all three allegations. He noted these issues impact the popularity of candidates in the area, as the clip suggests that the party can only be the opposition, which would lead to lack of support, thus affecting candidates actively campaigning. The clip also mentions discouraging support for Pheu Thai candidates and promoting support for individuals from the Bhumjaithai Party.

Regarding the clarity of the evidence, Narawit said it is initially fairly clear. Beyond the audio clip, efforts were made to trace its origin, resulting in identifying a participant in the conversation who confirmed being present in the clip and provided the original recording. This person also agreed to provide information and confirm the authenticity of the statements. Therefore, Narawit believes the evidence is sufficient for the Election Commission to consider action. He added that claims the clip is AI-generated are typical denials from those accused.

Narawit also called on the Election Commission to supervise the election process to ensure it is fair and just, especially given recent reports of violations related to advance voting. He urged stricter scrutiny and monitoring of officials working in the field.
