The Secretary-General of the Election Commission issued an urgent order to all EC provincial directors in the Northeastern and Southern regions to closely watch for vote-buying in the final stretch, especially during the two days before the election, stressing that if money is distributed, offenders must be caught.
On 5 Feb 2026 at 15:00 at the Election Commission office, Mr. Saweang Boonmee, Secretary-General of the EC, sent a message via group LINE to provincial election directors emphasizing prevention of vote-buying in the two days before the election. He stated, “Directors, there are reports that in the last one to two days before the election, areas with intense competition and potential cash use include all Northeastern and Southern provinces. Therefore, directors in these areas should pay special attention during the 2-3 days before election day to prevent and deter cash distribution. If distribution occurs, offenders must be caught to ensure an honest election. Other regions should also maintain vigilance according to local conditions up to the night before election day.”
