Pita Expresses Regret Over Not Becoming Prime Minister, Urges Voters to Cast Both Ballots for the People’s Party

The People’s Party held a major rally in Khon Kaen to conclude the “Mai” caravan, urging everyone to act as natural vote gatherers. If things don’t improve after four years, there’s no need to vote. Piyabutr called for over 20 million votes for the Orange Party, saying no one can block the People’s government. Pita declared his regret at not becoming prime minister and asked voters to cast both ballots this time to settle it once and for all.

On 5 Feb 2026 GMT+7, at Ton Tan Market, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, the People’s Party held a large rally led by Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, the party’s deputy leader and second prime ministerial candidate; Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, deputy leader; along with Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat and Mr. Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, campaign assistants. A large crowd attended to listen to the speeches.

Wiroj stated his commitment to seriously reform the military and stand alongside lower-ranking soldiers, emphasizing that only the People’s Party holds this position.

Wiroj addressed criticism from Mr. Sutin Klangsaeng, deputy leader of the Pheu Thai Party, who attacked the People’s Party over the phrase “What is the military for?” He said that love for the military should be shown through actions, not just words or political exploitation. Regardless of party color—red, blue, green, or others—only the Orange Party stands at the frontline protecting lower-ranking soldiers. They care about justice; the stars on soldiers’ shoulders symbolize duties, not oppression. This is the People’s Party’s stance.

“Whether it’s corrupt soldiers, those who bully civilians, senior officers who assault junior soldiers, or opaque military procurement supplying poor equipment to frontline troops risking their lives, I cannot tolerate or ignore this. We are grateful to the many good generals and officers in the military who have trusted and cooperated well with us,” he added.

Therefore, if you want a government that works professionally with the military, cares for lower-ranking soldiers with dignity and good income without bullying, and promotes merit-based advancement for officers to build a professional military defending sovereignty for the people, then on 8 Feb, vote for the People’s Party with both ballots and let’s form the People’s government together.

“Mai” urges the public to act as natural vote gatherers.

Ms. Sirikanya said recently some have naturally supported the People’s Party, including Mr. Saweang Bunmee, the Election Commission secretary-general, who surprisingly said, “If you don’t trust the commissioners, don’t vote.” Another is Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, who recently claimed that even if the People’s Party wins first place, it cannot form a government unless the margin is large enough. Therefore, on 8 Feb, we must not let them succeed. Go vote massively, mark both ballots for the People’s Party to win first place with a lead of 50 to 60 seats over the runner-up.

Asking for a chance: If not good after 4 years, don’t vote again.

Even though some have already voted early and others decided to vote for the Orange Party, the current votes may still be insufficient to form a government. So please, in the remaining time, everyone should embrace the spirit of natural vote gatherers and encourage those around them to vote heavily for the People’s Party. This time we want real change and do not want to wait any longer. Ask if people are satisfied with their current lives. If not, can the revolving-door governments improve things? The Orange Party is the only party that has never governed before. Will you give us a chance? If we fail, don’t vote for us again in four years.

This election has no Senate members who can help select the prime minister anymore. Vote for us to win decisively and form the government for sure. We will have a new prime minister named Teng Nattapong Ruangpanyawut. Additionally, voters must approve the referendum to draft a new constitution, because the 2017 Constitution prevents the public from recalling ineffective Election Commission members. The 8 Feb election is historic—we will get a legitimate government: the winning party will form the government. Go vote massively, mark both Orange ballots, approve the referendum, and let’s form the People’s government together.

Piyabutr calls for over 20 million votes for the Orange Party; no one can block the People’s government.

Mr. Piyabutr stated that after the 1932 Siamese revolution led by the People’s Party, Thai society became more equal, and ordinary people gained greater access to education and civil service. This allowed many from the Northeast to study at Thammasat University and enter politics, leading to many sharp, progressive representatives from the region playing key roles in parliament. The history of Northeastern representatives is the history of ordinary people like us who decided to run for office to change Thailand. However, in recent times, patronage network politics has gradually encroached, causing us to forget this history.

Piyabutr further said that big family politics lack ideology or clear political and socioeconomic policies. Wherever power exists, big families flock to that party. When their influence fades and they are suppressed, they move to another party. When a coup tries to extend power by forming a political party, these families join it. When the power tide shifts, they flock to yet another party.

“Old politics involves massive money, whether through vote-buying or recouping investment once in power, then running for election again to repeat the cycle. It’s no surprise parties compete only for ministries like Transport, Agriculture, and Interior—forming governments without public agendas.”

He added that people say the People’s Party cannot form government even if it wins first because it will be dissolved or face disqualifications. Whenever people rise to fight, they are suppressed repeatedly. On 8 Feb, the answer is up to the public: will they let this old script repeat? Will they allow party dissolution and disqualifications again? Will they permit the powerful to block the People’s Party? If everyone says no, then on 8 Feb, vote for the People’s Party to exceed 20 million votes. The people hold the supreme power, the license to form government and appoint representatives. Don’t let others use another license to block us. If enough vote for the People’s Party, no one can stop it.

Pita declares regret at not becoming prime minister; asks voters to cast both ballots to settle it once and for all.

Mr. Pita said this election is for change, to let the People’s Party form the government. If voting repeats the old way, everything remains the same. Everyone recalls the day he had to leave parliament when the Move Forward Party was dissolved. He was the one who should have been most hopeless, but now, the finish line is closer than ever. If he hasn’t lost hope, no one should.

“More than regret is the sorrow that I did not become the 30th prime minister from Isan. I regret missing the chance to serve over 20 million people there—over 30% of Thailand’s population. That’s why I once vowed if I ever entered government, I would double policies for Isan to make its people twice as wealthy. But I never had that chance. Today, I ask everyone to help elect all 11 candidates to parliament, cast both ballots to settle this once and for all, so election results and government formation align. I didn’t get the chance to act, so please give the prime ministership to the People’s Party to do so instead,” Pita said.
