The Democrat Party leader campaigned for votes from residents of Bang Khun Thian and Chom Thong districts, receiving blessings from supporters wishing him electoral victory. “Abhisit” emphasized that the Democrat Party is the safe escape, ignoring competitors’ attacks in the southern region and urging the Election Commission to strictly enforce measures against vote-buying.
On 6 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the Democrat Party vigorously campaigned in the final stretch in Bangkok. Led by Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, party leader, alongside Mr. Sakolthee Phattiyakul, deputy party leader responsible for Bangkok, and Mr. Ong-art Klampaiboon, party leader’s advisor, they supported Mr. Saroj Suengpaisankul, candidate for Bangkok’s constituency 26 (No. 6), at the Sinthavee Village Market.
The atmosphere from 7:00 a.m. was lively and warm. Along the more than 400-meter path inside the market, many people and Democrat Party fans gathered densely to welcome them. People took photos, gave flowers, and continuously cheered to support the Democrat team.
A memorable scene today was a group of devoted party fans who purposely came to meet Mr. Abhisit. They offered congratulations wishing him success in this election, brought cold drinks for the Democrat Party team, and many said they definitely planned to attend the party’s evening rally. One fan revealed emotionally that he and his family have long been closely connected to the Democrat Party.
“Our whole family supports the Democrat Party. We admire the party leader, and this party has been in our hearts and bloodline for a long time. Today, we came to encourage them, and soon my son studying abroad will return to Thailand to fulfill his civic duty by voting for the Democrat Party as well.”
Mr. Abhisit and his team greeted the public warmly, listened to local issues, and reaffirmed their commitment to honest and constructive politics. They then continued with nonstop campaigning throughout the day, urging people to exercise their voting rights before concluding with a major evening rally.
Reaffirming the Democrat Party as the “safe escape”
At the Sri Phet Village central market, Mr. Abhisit gave an interview about the political situation in the final days before the 8 Feb election, affirming the Democrat Party’s stance as the main alternative—the safe escape.
Unfazed by attacks on their southern support base
Regarding competitor parties’ aggressive attacks on the Democrat Party in the southern region, Mr. Abhisit said he was not surprised by such tactics from other party leaders but was confident southern residents understand the facts and can discern political intentions well. The party continues to focus on communicating their achievements and sincere commitment.
Mr. Abhisit also expressed concern over reports of large amounts of money being used in various areas (money transport). He noted the party has received similar reports but was more worried about the Election Commission’s passive role.
“I want to see the Election Commission take a more proactive approach because, as we campaign, people keep reporting these issues, yet the EC remains relatively silent and lacks clear measures.”
Regarding voters’ decisions on 8 Feb, Mr. Abhisit emphasized this is not just a general election but a critical turning point for a country facing multiple crises, including corruption, economic inequality, and politically fueled conflicts between two power blocs. The Democrat Party offers itself as the safe escape across five key dimensions:
1. Safety from corruption (focusing on honest politics).
2. Safety from poverty (addressing livelihood issues sustainably).
3. Safety from inequality.
4. Safety from conflict (overcoming destructive politics).
5. Safety from the global geopolitical crisis.
“I want to emphasize that this election is not just another vote. Our country faces many dangers, especially corruption, uncompetitive economy, rising inequality, and political polarization that undermines confidence. Foreign analysts predict worsening problems. This election is an opportunity for people to change direction, but in a way that avoids destruction and conflict. The Democrat Party clearly offers itself as the safe escape—from corruption, poverty, inequality, conflict, and global geopolitical challenges.”
Mr. Abhisit concluded by inviting the public to attend the major evening rally today at One Bangkok starting from 5:00 p.m. to reinforce the party’s readiness to lead the country toward constructive solutions.
