The Army spokesperson emphasized that soldiers maintain political neutrality and support personnel to exercise their voting rights in elections and referendums according to the democratic system. He pointed out that some parties continue unconstructive campaigning by outdated indirect criticism of the military.
On 6 February 2026, Major General Winthai Suwaree, Army spokesperson, disclosed the actions of military units nationwide to support the upcoming election and referendum on 8 February. He said General Pana Klaewplaodtook, Army Commander, has a clear policy and approach to encourage all personnel, as citizens, to participate in voting and the referendum under democracy according to personal discretion without any guidance.
He also requested cooperation from all parties after noting that some politically affiliated individuals or supporters of certain parties have spread information directly or indirectly referencing the military's involvement with voting and other issues, which are untrue claims. The dissemination of such information is concerning because it misleads society about the Army's operations.
He confirmed that currently the Army does not use any military facilities as polling stations, nor do personnel serve as election committee assistants at any polling station, and the Army is not involved in handling ballot boxes in any way.
The Army spokesperson further stated that during this election campaign period, some parties continue to use the old-style indirect criticism and jabs at the military and the Army. Although less frequent than during the 2023 election, this tactic still persists.
This approach appears unconstructive and inappropriate for the current era. Regarding various criticisms directed at the Army, explanations will be provided to clarify matters to society at a suitable time without affecting the voting rights of personnel and Thai citizens.
The Army spokesperson reiterated that those influential in society should present information based on facts and avoid communication that might cause misunderstanding, which can harm the image and confidence in other organizations, as has occurred in past cases. He affirmed the Army's firm stance to remain politically neutral.
