“Uncle Pom” Returns to Hometown Lopburi, Says Political Life Is Enough, Plans to Travel and Rest

“Uncle Pom” returns to his original home, saying his political life is enough and will stop here. From now on, he will travel and relax, accompanied by Palang Pracharath Party candidates to pay respects at temples for good fortune and sample local food.

On 6 February 2026, General Prawit Wongsuwan, former leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, visited his hometown at the traditional Thai house 'Ruen Rub Tawan' in Ban Mi district, Lopburi province. He was warmly welcomed by local residents who came to meet and greet him in a friendly atmosphere. Mr. Suchart Lainamngern, Palang Pracharath Party candidate for Lopburi MP, hosted the visit and guided the tour of the area.

General Prawit spent time speaking closely with villagers, asking about their wellbeing and offering wishes for good health and happiness. Many locals praised him for still appearing strong, agile, and approachable.

He then traveled to Chiang Nga Temple in Ban Mi district to pay respects to sacred objects and to the principal Buddha statue in the ordination hall for auspiciousness. He shared his deep connection to this place, his birthplace, and met descendants of a midwife from over 80 years ago, now aged 87, who came to reminisce. This created a warm and memorable atmosphere for those present.

Throughout the visit, General Prawit engaged in friendly conversations with locals, learning about their lifestyles and community stories. Before departing, he and his group stopped for local food at Mr. Suchart Lainamngern’s residence, where villagers and fans greeted them. They recommended delicious restaurants and distinctive Lopburi products. Many expressed hope he would try, promote, and share local dishes and community goods to help stimulate tourism in the area.

General Prawit also stated that at 81 years old, having worked for over 60 years in military service to the nation as well as politics—including deputy prime minister, minister, and acting prime minister—he feels he has done enough in politics and wishes to stop here. From now on, he intends to travel, relax, and live freely.
