Election Commission Dispatches Ballots, Urges Voters to Exercise Their Rights Before Counting on 8 Feb

The Election Commission has delivered advance ballots to 400 constituencies, with police providing full security along the routes and 24-hour CCTV surveillance before the simultaneous vote counting on 8 February.

On 6 February 2026, the Election Commission Office (EC), in collaboration with Thailand Post Company Limited and the Royal Thai Police, dispatched a convoy of vehicles transporting advance ballots (both out-of-area and overseas) heading to 400 constituencies nationwide, in preparation for the vote counting alongside the general election on 8 February.

This transportation involved over 600 vehicles, accompanied by highway police officers throughout the routes, utilizing a real-time tracking system. Upon arrival, ballots are securely stored with 24-hour CCTV surveillance before being retrieved for counting after the polls close at 17:00 on election day.

Mr. Narong Klanwarin, Chairman of the EC, addressed public concerns regarding about 100 ballots with incorrectly filled codes, confirming that the EC has sorted and sent these to the correct constituencies according to voters’ rights. He assured that all advance ballots have been delivered intact without any loss, urging public confidence in the transparency of the process.

Dr. Danan Supatpan, CEO of Thailand Post, stated that over 90% of ballots have already been dispatched, covering all provinces. Deliveries to Bangkok, Ratchaburi, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya will be completed today without fail.

Regarding the vote counting after polls close at 17:00 on 8 February, counting teams will be divided into normal polling units to immediately count constituency and party-list MP votes, as well as referendum ballots. Meanwhile, a separate committee will handle the opening and counting of advance ballots at designated locations simultaneously nationwide.
