Wiroj Advocates Reform of Military, Police, and Judiciary Vows Peoples Government Will Bring Pol. Maj. Gen. Paween Home

Wiroj advocates reforming the military, police, and judiciary, declaring it is time to bring camouflage-patterned corruption cases to civilian courts, promote modern military equipment, reduce troop casualties, abolish illegal fee systems, restore career advancement for good police officers, and vows the people's government will bring Pol. Maj. Gen. Paween back home.

On 6 Feb 2026 at Sports Building 1, Thai-Japanese Sports Center, Din Daeng, the People's Party (Pop Chon) held its final major campaign rally, highlighting its "Change" campaign. The stage was crowded with key figures, concluding with the party’s three prime ministerial candidates: Mr. Weerayut Kanchuchat, deputy party leader; Ms. Sirikan Tanakul, deputy party leader; and closing with Mr. Natthapong Rueangpanyawut, party leader. Many supporters in orange gathered early from 14:00 onwards to secure seats for the speeches.

At 17:00, Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, party-list MP candidate for Pop Chon, said in his speech that it is time for a people's government to establish new principles focusing on defense technology and modern military equipment to minimize risks and casualties among our troops, our brothers and sisters. It's time to promote the domestic defense industry, use armored vehicles produced in Thailand, and deploy drones made locally, with an integrated tactical data system enabling efficient joint operations among the armed forces.

Mr. Wiroj stated that many recognize the losses in ongoing battles. Now is the time to develop our defense industry with software sovereignty, controlling our own military equipment to prevent losses. Sacrificing one's life for the nation is a duty he deeply respects from working with every soldier. However, the people's government must ensure that sacrifice befalls the enemy’s side instead and bring our brothers safely home.

"It's time to promote our defense industry. Our navy brothers know well the urgent need for frigates. The navy has worked hard to build frigates domestically. I assure you that under the people's government and Ministry of Defense, I will invite the navy to build frigates within the country together. We will have frigates built by the hands of our own Thai people. It's time for our youth to have jobs in Thailand's defense technology. It's time to develop our defense industry and foster civilian-military relations with mutual understanding. This is the people's government," he said.

Mr. Wiroj added that while we do not want our soldiers to suffer losses, if necessary, injury or death must come from enemy weapons. The people's government will no longer tolerate soldiers from the same nation being harmed or killed by their own side. No soldier shall die inside military camps on our own soil anymore. No one wearing stars on their shoulders will be allowed to harm others again under the people's government.

"It's time to reform the military courts and make our armed forces transparent. Corruption cases within military camps and the armed forces should be tried in the Criminal Court like other ministries. Soldiers' duty is to fight enemies, not to harm or oppress civilians. Therefore, criminal cases involving soldiers against civilians must be brought to civilian courts. We will modernize the military, focus on defense technology, and develop our defense industry. This is the military under the people's government."

Regarding the police, he said it is time to restore career advancement to good police officers and return them to the people. This is the most important point. The people's government will end ticketing and illegal fee systems. Police will become true protectors of public peace. It's time for the new prime minister, Natthapong Rueangpanyawut, to apply seniority principles, enabling dedicated police to gain experience and grow, finally ending the discouragement caused by being passed over repeatedly.

"The prime minister will enforce Section 130 of the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act to require police officers to disclose assets openly. No police officer should become abnormally wealthy from illicit money, illegal business income, or gray money, accumulating hundreds of millions. We will prevent such officers from advancing to supervisory positions. The case of Police Corporal Wichian Klansarert, who was killed by a vehicle in 2012, must never happen again under the people's government," Mr. Wiroj said.

Mr. Wiroj also mentioned honest police like Pol. Maj. Gen. Paween Pongsirin, who has prosecuted human trafficking cases straightforwardly, daring to issue arrest warrants for high-ranking military officers, despite receiving threatening phone calls and pressure from mysterious sources to back off. Pol. Maj. Gen. Paween insists that the law must be law and fulfills his duty to enforce it. Yet ultimately, he was forced into exile abroad. It is time for the people's government to bring Pol. Maj. Gen. Paween back home and restore justice to him. Such disgraceful incidents must never occur again.

We once had good police officers, officers the public could rely on and respect. Thirty-three years ago, during the tenure of Police General Prathin Santiprapop as Commissioner-General of the Police Department, we had Metropolitan Police Commander Lieutenant General known as the "Tiger Mask," who cleared illegal gambling dens and drug trafficking across the capital and subdued influential figures. We will bring back such good police officers under Prime Minister Natthapong Rueangpanyawut.

"To all police listening, remember your seniors who were guardians of peace, known as honest police, the 'stern tiger' and grandmaster teacher Pol. Maj. Gen. Kongdech Chusri. One phrase of his deeply impressed me: If police still fear influential people, how can the people live peacefully? I must mention honest police like Pol. Maj. Gen. Kongdech, who once raided gambling dens despite being pushed by a higher-ranking Police General. Pol. Maj. Gen. Kongdech brushed off the hand and said, 'I will arrest criminals. What will you do?' Don't we want such crime-fighting police back?" Mr. Wiroj said.

Mr. Wiroj continued that all police know the pain of having to pay out of pocket for case expenses, with investigation fees fixed for 34 years. It is time to increase these fees so honest police can work with peace of mind without personal financial burdens. It's time to make the Criminal Investigation Fund transparent, properly used to support investigators and all police officers.

This is the police reform we want. It's not difficult, but as long as prime ministers tolerate ticketing and fee collection for superiors, the dream of good police is impossible. We will not allow interference in the justice process like the 2019-2020 case involving Judge Kanakorn Pianchana. Prisons must not be solely for the poor. It's time to restore freedom and judicial discretion to all judges, end interference, stop mysterious phone calls, and eliminate intimidation by written orders. Such conduct will not exist under the people's government.

"Security policy is neither difficult nor complicated and can be implemented. It's time for people to understand that national security means the security of all citizens. It's time to make laws truly laws, apply equality without double standards, and bring order and justice to the country. On 8 Feb, there is no other choice. Currently, good police lack motivation because they don’t know why they work so hard, only to see their superiors advance through buying and selling positions," Mr. Wiroj said.

Good soldiers perform their duties professionally, but if no change occurs, they must endure corruption and can only look on helplessly. Junior soldiers facing bullying and abuse don't know where to turn. Our frontlines must endure using military equipment that is ineffective because their superiors embezzle funds, risking lives while some parties exploit political popularity.

Mr. Wiroj also said that even judges who want to exercise their own discretion to deliver justice dare not do so, waiting instead for phone calls. Some judges and law faculty professors cannot face their students. On 8 Feb, vote for national security to belong to the people, for laws to be laws, for order to prevail. Vote for Pop Chon with two ballots.

"Nowadays, when people ask why we have soldiers, we answer that when junior soldiers are beaten or bullied to death, and political parties learn that the perpetrators are high-ranking officers with stars on their shoulders, those officers disappear. Only Pop Chon stands with junior soldiers, our children, because we understand the purpose of having soldiers, how to support good soldiers, and how to suppress corrupt soldiers," Mr. Wiroj said.
