Julpan Confirms No Protection for Palakorn if Evidence Found, Candidate Denies Gambling Website Links

Julpan revealed that Palakorn, the Pheu Thai candidate for Kalasin MP, explained he is not connected to gambling websites and confirmed that if evidence exists, he will not be protected. He raised suspicions about the issue surfacing close to the 2026 election and remarked that the government party seems excessively spotless.

At 16:20 on 6 Feb 2026 at Phloen Chit BTS Station, Mr. Julpan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party and prime ministerial candidate, gave an interview regarding the summons issued by the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) investigation unit to Mr. Palakorn Pimphanit, Pheu Thai candidate for Kalasin MP, following rumors linking him to online gambling websites. "If there is evidence, we will not protect anyone. Everything must follow the law. But we must note that this is a period close to the election," he said. "This is just a summons. From what I know, the ministers involved have called meetings to expedite political cases. If there was a real connection, I believe ministers would have ordered action, and arrests would have already been made. This is merely a summons."

Mr. Julpan added, "After asking Mr. Palakorn, he firmly denied any involvement, but we remain concerned. I have warned several times that in this election, the use of state power in many forms occurs. I urge civil servants to remain neutral and not abuse power affecting the election. Politicians come and go; no one lasts forever, but civil servants must uphold the law and principles."

When asked if Palakorn’s background was checked before his nomination, Mr. Julpan replied, "We thoroughly verified his background. For incumbent MPs, we had ample time. We submitted his information to no fewer than 10 agencies to ensure accuracy and integrity. The agencies that responded reported nothing unusual regarding this case."

When asked if the candidate had left the country amid rumors, Mr. Julpan revealed, "He is still in the country because the election is near on 8February 2026.He must stay and there is no reason to leave since this is only a summons."

Regarding whether the news breaking two days before the election would affect Pheu Thai’s votes, Mr. Julpan said, "It is probably the hope of those spreading the news. This kind of timing is suspicious. It is not only about Pheu Thai; similar incidents happened with other parties. We worry about the unusual rush in this election period, while the government party appears too clean, almost spotless. At this point, we say do not use state power as a political tool. As for legal cases, let them proceed according to the facts." ."
