
The Minister of Culture conducted an on-site inspection of the readiness for constructing the royal crematorium and related structures for the royal cremation ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, at Sanam Luang.
On 6 February 2026 at 13:30, Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture, visited the site to review the progress of the royal crematorium construction and its accompanying structures. This preparation is for the royal cremation ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The design adheres strictly to ancient royal traditions and integrates beautiful Thai artistic elements that reflect the Queen Mother's virtues and her graciousness toward the Thai people.
Mr. Panombut Chantrachot, Director-General of the Fine Arts Department, Ms. Lipikar Kamlangchai, Inspector General of the Ministry of Culture, along with executives from the Fine Arts Department, Mr. Alongkorn Kanjanakuha, Director of the Architecture Bureau, architects, related officials, and members of the press, accompanied the inspection at the Sanam Luang site.
This inspection aimed to review the site conditions for constructing the royal crematorium and its accompanying structures. Currently, the design is being expanded and the construction site prepared. The Fine Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture is fully ready to ensure every step of the crematorium's construction is meticulously carried out, elegantly and with the utmost dignity, honoring ancient royal traditions and ensuring the ceremony's completeness and highest respect.
The construction is scheduled to start in February 2026 and is expected to be completed by October 2026. Afterward, the plans will be respectfully submitted for royal approval to determine the date for the royal cremation ceremony.
