
The Bank of Thailand has reported irregular cash withdrawals from 11 additional accounts to the Election Commission, which has detected preparations for vote buying in the southern and northeastern regions and ordered close monitoring.
On 7 Feb 2026 at 15:00 GMT+7, at the Election Commission office, it was reported that the Bank of Thailand has sent data on suspicious cash withdrawals potentially violating election laws to the Election Commission, adding 11 new accounts to the 6 previously reported. The Election Commission has informed the provincial election directors where these irregular withdrawals were found and ordered them to monitor and track the distribution of funds that may be used for vote buying, as well as to prevent any payments for vote buying.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has received reports of preparations for vote buying in several areas in the South and Northeast. Accordingly, provincial Election Commission offices have increased measures to monitor and prevent such activities.
