“Sirikanya” votes in Phayathai hoping to break the new high record with over 75% voter turnout; party executives reveal plans to meet before polls close to track election results.
On 8 February 2026, Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, deputy leader of the Prachachon Party and prime ministerial candidate, cast her vote in the Samsen area. She said there was a positive sign with 40% voter turnout in the morning and expressed confidence that there would be no problems despite voting alongside a referendum. She urged the public to volunteer as poll watchers to help prevent errors.
Ms. Sirikanya added that according to polling station officials, the large turnout was an encouraging sign. She hopes the nationwide turnout will break the previous record of 75%. She noted that combining the polling stations for MPs and the referendum in the same location helped speed up voting and reduce confusion.
Regarding transparency, Ms. Sirikanya said the party had received ongoing reports of irregularities, mostly about incomplete posting of information at polling stations, which were promptly corrected after notifying officials. She urged residents living near polling stations to participate in observing the vote count after polls close to safeguard everyone's votes from being lost.
When asked about government formation, Ms. Sirikanya stated that party executives would meet again before polls close to plan their next steps based on the election results. She concluded by encouraging people to recognize the power of the “pen tip” in shaping change.
