Phai Lik arrived at the Kla Tham Party headquarters, confident of securing 50 parliamentary seats after viewing real-time poll results, while the media watch closely as the party is a key factor in government formation.
At 17:18 on 8 February 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered the developments at the Kla Tham Party (KTH) after the polls closed. Phai Lik, Secretary-General of the Kla Tham Party and candidate for Member of Parliament (MP) in Kamphaeng Phet District 1, came to the party headquarters to monitor the vote count. Upon his arrival, party officials showed him real-time election poll results. Seeing the data, he smiled and told reporters, “50 seats.”
When asked if he was confident given that some polls predicted Kla Tham winning only 30 seats, Phai Lik replied he was confident before heading upstairs at the party headquarters.
Reporters noted that Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat Prompao, Chairman of the Kla Tham Party Advisory Board and the party’s prime ministerial candidate, was scheduled to arrive at the party headquarters after 18:00 to await election results. It is expected that he will make an unofficial statement in the evening after preliminary results are known.
Earlier, from 15:00, reporters observed a steady presence of media at the Kla Tham Party headquarters, as the party is seen as a significant factor in government formation despite not being a large party. Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat Prompao, the party’s prime ministerial candidate and advisory chairman, had voted in Phayao Province in the morning before returning to Bangkok to join the media in monitoring election results together after 17:00.
Previously, Kla Tham had 26 MPs in the last government. The party’s goal for this election is to increase its number of MPs by recruiting former MPs from various parties and aiming for a higher seat count.
Particularly in the northern region, the party expects to secure seats, as well as in Bangkok, having attracted key figures such as Paweena Hongsakul and Air Commodore Anudit Nakornthap to strengthen the team.
Observers also note that Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat has implemented a strategy of fielding constituency candidates spread across all regions, contesting all 350 constituencies to expand the party’s base and challenge established party strongholds.
Key target areas include three constituencies in Phayao Province, as well as Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani. The party aims to contest 112 constituencies where it believes it can be competitive, estimating it can secure about 35% of those seats based on its existing MP support base. They also expect to join the government to continue agricultural policies through the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
