Watch Tomorrow as NACC Discusses Case of 44 Former Move Forward MPs, Affirms No Political Motive During Election Period

Attention focuses on the NACC meeting proposing to discuss the case of 44 former Move Forward MPs who co-signed a proposal to amend Section 112 tomorrow. The NACC Secretary-General explained this follows the normal timeline. The delay since 28 Feb 2026 was due to appeals by involved parties. He affirmed this is unrelated to post-election politics.

On 8 Feb 2026, Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), addressed reports that the NACC is preparing to determine wrongdoing in the case of 44 former Move Forward MPs regarding their proposal to amend Section 112 at the NACC meeting on 9 Feb. He clarified that while there is a NACC meeting on 9 Feb, there is no scheduled agenda to consider the case of the 44 former Move Forward MPs. However, the matter could be introduced as a confidential agenda at the meeting, proposed by the NACC Chairperson, and then considered by the commission.

When asked if there is a likelihood that this issue will be proposed for confidential consideration, Mr. Surapong said he does not know yet. However, the investigation and inquiry concerning this matter have been completed and it is only awaiting discussion at the meeting.

When asked about scrutiny and criticism suggesting that raising this issue after the election is politically motivated, the NACC Secretary-General said the case is proceeding according to the normal timeline. The matter was previously considered on 28 Dec 2025, after which involved parties submitted requests for fairness and clarifications, which have been provided. The timing of finalizing the matter now is not because they want to raise it during the election period. If the issue is brought up at the 9 Feb meeting, the NACC will publicly announce the result of the consideration.

“I affirm that this is not a political matter. Everything follows the established timeline. I am cautious about this because, as the head of the agency, I must ensure it is not linked to politics,” said Mr. Surapong.
