Thammanat Confident in Securing Three Phayao Districts, Cites Peoples Party Ballot Irregularities by GPN

Thammanat entered the party to await election results, confident in securing three districts in Phayao. He expressed no concern over the GPN's alleged unauthorized ballot deposits because they did not involve his party, citing the problematic ballots as those of the People's Party.

On 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters described the atmosphere after polling stations closed at the Kla Tham Party office, where Captain Thammanat Pompaopai, party advisor and prime ministerial candidate, arrived at 18:08 with his wife. Upon arrival, he greeted party members and paid respects at the party's spirit shrine, smiling as he greeted the media.

He was then interviewed regarding issues with ballots at the GPN in Phayao Province, District 1, where 14 ballots were reportedly deposited during a midday break. Captain Thammanat said he had been informed while still in Phayao that 7 problematic party-list ballots, number 46, belonged to the People's Party. District ballots numbered 1 and 2 were unrelated to his party, so he was unconcerned. He said those responsible should be worried, adding, "Phayao is my home area; if they dare do this here, it's serious."

In other areas such as Chiang Mai, Lampang, and even the south in Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat, the party is leading in 2-3 districts per province.

Regarding the goal of winning 50 parliamentary seats, he said it was too early to say and they would wait about another hour for election results. During the wait, internal party discussions would take place. When asked if anyone had contacted them, Captain Thammanat said it was too soon, as all parties are still watching their own vote counts. He also noted that Anutin Charnvirakul remains in daily contact.
