Anutin holds back on deciding the government coalition, questioning whether the Kla Party will join. He says there is still time to wait for official results and a party executive meeting before interpreting the votes, which he accepts have exceeded expectations and represent a mandate from the people. "Anutin" accepts more votes than expected.
On 9 February 2026 at 22:20 at the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) headquarters, Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and prime ministerial candidate, responded to media questions about which party he would partner with to form a government. He said, "As I have said, we have not yet received official certification of MPs. We will wait until everything is clear and settled. Currently, each party must hold their party meetings and executive committee meetings to discuss their stance and direction. There is still time to proceed with these steps."
When asked if the Kla Tham Party (KTP) would join a coalition with Bhumjaithai, Anutin said, "Today, I want to talk about Bhumjaithai first. There is still time to follow official procedures, and nothing is finalized yet."
When asked what principles Bhumjaithai would follow in forming a government, Anutin replied, "I want to hold an executive committee meeting first after we see the numbers stabilize."
When asked if the deputy prime minister conditions involving Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, prime ministerial candidate Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, and Ms. Supajee Sutthumpan would remain the same if a government was formed, Anutin said, "If the MP numbers match those reported in various media, as I said, our 'Pack 4' is set to be deputy prime ministers if we reach the point of forming a government."
When asked, as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, how many MPs they would need in parliament to ensure a safe and strong government, Anutin said, "We must wait until the numbers stabilize first." When asked about the first urgent policy to be implemented if in government, he said, "We have all policies ready." When asked specifically about border issues, Anutin said, "The borders are calm now. Let's not stir things up because the border issue concerns the security we have established over Thailand’s territory, which is fully controlled and supervised. The military is monitoring the border lines and has strengthened defenses to protect Thailand to the fullest extent possible."
When asked if resolving border issues was a factor in their election victory, Anutin said, "The people made Bhumjaithai win. I do not presume or speculate about the people's thoughts. But our initial victory is because the people chose Bhumjaithai."
When asked if Anutin would hold any ministerial positions, he said, "I should not say anything at this time."
When asked if emphasizing professionalism was the strength that helped Bhumjaithai secure so many MPs, Anutin said, "You should ask the people. Today, the people have likely given some answers to Bhumjaithai. Decoding the votes is a mandate from the people to Bhumjaithai, and all the party leaders contributed to the votes received, which exceeded our expectations."
