In the 2026 election, after unofficial vote results were announced, Madam Kob Jitrawan of the Thai Ruam Palang Party, candidate for Ubon Ratchathani's 9th district, decisively defeated the incumbent from the Kla Tham Party.
On the evening of 8 Feb 2026, reporters summarized the election results at the Thai Ruam Palang Party office in Village 7, Rai Noi Subdistrict, Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District. Madam Kob, Ms. Jitrawan Wangsupakitkosol, candidate for the 9th district of Ubon Ratchathani, awaited the vote count results with party members before declaring victory based on unofficial counts, as she led by over 30,000 votes. She left far behind her opponent and former area holder, Ms. Rampool Tantivanichanon from the Kla Tham Party, who received just over 9,000 votes.
Madam Kob, Ms. Jitrawan, expressed her gratitude to the voters in the 9th district areas of Buntharik, Na Chaluai, and Sirindhorn districts for trusting her to serve as their Member of Parliament and to be their voice. She pledged to promptly work according to her campaign policies, especially focusing on agricultural product prices to benefit the local farmers.
Madam Kob previously ran in local politics as a candidate for the President of the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Administrative Organization in the previous term but was defeated by Mr. Kan Kalptinan, elder brother of Mr. Kriang Kalptinan of the Pheu Thai Party. She then entered the national election arena and successfully defeated the incumbent Ms. Rampool Tantivanichanon this time.
Meanwhile, Thai Ruam Palang Party candidates in Ubon Ratchathani who previously held districts 3 and 10—Ms. Pimpakarn Plasom and Mr. Somsak Boonprachom respectively—continued to hold their seats firmly. Under the leadership of Mr. Kungfu Wasaworn Puangpornsri as party head, the Thai Ruam Palang Party has established a strong presence along the Thai-Cambodian border, emerging as a promising new party to watch.
