Bhumjaithai Party Wins Election as People Trust Anutin Declines to Comment on Coalition Talks

Anutin emphasized that the election win came from the public's confidence in the Bhumjaithai Party. He said he would assess the situation first after being criticized for using nationalism as a campaign selling point, and noted that government formation still has procedures to follow. He declined to comment on approaches to other political parties for coalition building.

At 10:30 a.m. on 9 February 2026 GMT+7. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and prime ministerial candidate, was interviewed regarding whether the election victory was due to nationalism or border-related efforts, stating that the election win came from the public's trust in the Bhumjaithai Party's approach to work. When asked again whether nationalism was the main factor or selling point for winning this election, Anutin said, "I will need to evaluate first."

Regarding when the government formation will be seen, Anutin said everything has its steps. Currently, there is no official announcement from the Election Commission (EC), and it is unknown who has what numbers, along with any limitations or incompleteness. He also emphasized that Thailand still has a fully functioning government without any interruption. When asked whether, despite the lack of official results, talks with other political parties have begun, Anutin declined to answer the question.
