Thammanat Reveals No Government Formation Deal Yet, Emphasizes Respect for Leading Parties Satisfied with Kla Thams 58 Seats

Thammanat expressed satisfaction with the election results as Kla Tham secured 58 seats, nearing the 60-seat target, following a strategy focused on agricultural areas, water, and land. He revealed there is no government formation deal yet, emphasizing that all matters must respect the leading parties.

On 9 Feb 2026 GMT+7 at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, Chief Advisor to the Kla Tham Party, shared his views on the parliamentary election count, which was over 95% complete. Overall, he was pleased. The party had aimed for 60 seats but won 58, which met expectations. He acknowledged some constituencies expected to win were narrowly lost. He was especially glad to secure seats in places like Mae Hong Son and Roi Et. In Suphanburi, where they had hoped for two seats, they won only one. This success aligned with the party’s campaign strategy of direct voter engagement, presenting policies focused on agriculture, water, and land for farming.

Regarding approaches for forming a government, Lt. Col. Thammanat said no discussions have occurred yet because after completing duties at Kla Tham last night, he turned off his phone to rest and has not received any calls. When asked about speculation that the government formation might involve Bhumjaithai, Pheu Thai, and Kla Tham, he responded that respect must be given to the leading parties forming the government, and no talks have yet taken place.

On readiness to join the government, Lt. Col. Thammanat stated that the previous government included them, and if this time they form the government and manage the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, it would facilitate continuing existing policies. However, this depends on the leading parties forming the government and further detailed discussions. At present, it is too early, and all sides remain firmly in their positions.

Lt. Col. Thammanat also addressed the case involving KPN election officials stealing and casting ballots in Phayao province. He said the police have concluded it was a criminal act of casting ballots for the People's Party. There is speculation that this might not be limited to just one district. He has coordinated with the provincial governor to investigate the matter further. Going forward, it will be up to the Election Commission to proceed with legal processes as required.
