Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit posted a message thanking the people of Chonburi Constituency 1 for protecting their own votes after ballot boxes were found not properly sealed and were about to be moved, while calling for a recount.
On 9 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered a development where citizens and students stormed the Chonburi Election Commission office to demand a recount in Constituency 1. Suspicion arose over ballot boxes being stored without cable ties securing them as required by the Election Commission regulations. When questioned, the Election Commission director responsible for the unit stated he lacked authority to immediately order a recount despite public complaints. Instead, the matter must be forwarded to the central Election Commission for authorized consideration, following proper procedures. This inability to recount immediately caused public dissatisfaction and concern about the security of the ballot boxes.
Regarding this matter, Mr. Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, leader of the Progressives and campaign assistant for the People's Party, posted a message via X @Thanathorn_FWP stating “Thank you to the people of Chonburi Constituency 1 who are fiercely protecting their own votes. You can watch the live stream now. The ballot boxes are not properly sealed and are about to be moved. The public is blocking the pickup trucks from leaving. They are demanding a recount. Please watch the live stream and send them your support.”
Meanwhile, the People's Party posted a message on Facebook saying "Thank you to the people who are protecting their own votes. The Orange Party has set up a special task force to handle cases and prosecute irregular vote counts nationwide. Please send any evidence to the party inbox!"
